Old North Davis Is 100 Years Old on February 7th, 2013 (98)

The area we today call “Old North Davis” was created over a two week period from the last week of January through the first week of February, 1913.

Recognizing that there is often an unavoidable degree of arbitrariness in setting “start” or “founding” dates, let me hazard a tentative one.

The two week process of clearing and grading the land we would eventually term “the old north” appears to have been completed by the end of first week of February, 1913. On that basis, one might consider February 7th of that year the “birthday” of the Old North.

Varying in the kinds and degrees of detail, there are three accounts of this story online:

For convenience, I reproduce the briefest two of the three in this post.
